Augusta Read Thomas (1964New York, NY)was on the composition faculty at the Eastman School of Music for 8 years and is now a Professor at Northwestern University. She is Composer-in-Residence with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Conductors including Barenboim, Rostropovich, Boulez, Salonen, Slatkin, Schwarz, Maazel, Robertson, and Eschenbach have programmed her music. Recent premieres include: "Light The First Light Of Evening" for the London Sinfonietta and George Benjamin and "In My Sky At Twilight" for the CSO and Boulez. Awards include: The Siemens Foundation, ASCAP, BMI, the NEA, the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, the Guggenheim and Koussevitzky Foundations among many others.
